The Vision of Friend of Sinners Church
GatherAs the New Year begins, the Friend of Sinners family thanks you for your faithful prayer and financial support, and we also want to report to you what we have been up to with the resources you have entrusted to us, and how God has answered your prayers.
The vision we operate under is simple: Gather, Go, Grow. Gather together as the saints of God. Go and proclaim the gospel. Grow in grace and knowledge and faith and faithfulness. This newsletter provides you with that update, and I hope will encourage you as you consider where to invest precious Kingdom funds in 2022. Milwaukee provides huge ministry opportunity, with only two PCA |
Gochurches in the entire city. The inner city of Milwaukee, as much as it suffers from poverty, violence and division, contains in it people of great worth. God’s treasures, bearing his image.
It is the privilege of the church to proclaim the gospel in Milwaukee’s streets, and see the transformation of individuals, communities, and, Lord willing, the entire city. The question for Friend of Sinners Church is HOW we can do that sustainably. We are very grateful for the support we have received so far, and are still in need, but we also must be responsible to develop a way to self-fund the many challenges we have in proclaiming the gospel to |
GrowMilwaukee.
We believe we have found a wonderful solution, and we hope you will join us in taking that next step. So, we have filled this newsletter with news and pictures to inform and inspire you to help us get to a sustainable presence in Milwaukee. The plan involves purchase of a building 10 blocks from our current location. This old Lutheran school has a large gym, which can become a sanctuary, and many rooms which can provide us with a marketplace that will not only serve our community, but also attract people who will hear the gospel. And, we believe his project will provide us with funding into the future. |
The Hope to acquire a building
Since 2018 we have been leasing space from the Adullam Outreach Center at 3033 N 30th St in Milwaukee. It's a tough neighborhood, but filled with people who need to hear the gospel in the midst of Milwaukee's inner city. What a joy to Gather and Grow here!
We gather together to worship our Lord in praise songs, in giving, and in service to the church. We encourage each other, and build up one another. Our theme for this comes from 1 Cor. 14:26, which says in part: “When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson.... Let all things be done for building up.” When we gather together, everyone is invited to encourage the church during the service, and what a blessing that has been! God builds us up with such grace. GIVE You can help move us to self-sufficient proclamation of the gospel by prayerfully giving: https://give.pcamna.org/to/1460 |
Part of the inevitable responsibility of Friend of Sinners Church, newly particularized, is to work toward self-sufficiency. We believe we discovered a wonderful way to do that. One of the greatest needs in our neighborhood is human services: Daycares and Grocery Stores (we live and minister in a “Food Desert”).
Friend of Sinners congregation voted to hire an architect to help us buy an abandoned building from the city—the old Walther Elementary School at 3201 N 40th St. (to the right on the above photo). This building has a large room for a sanctuary and five other huge rooms. We believe we can invite local entrepreneurs to establish a grocery store, a daycare, a barber shop, a sports gaming room and a study center, and produce enough revenue to build financial stability for the future. We are so excited about what God might do for us! We urge you to prayerfully consider giving using the "GIVE" link on this page. |
