"Friend of Sinners" was a nickname given to Jesus while he lived on earth. He was not a friend of sin, but he is certainly a friend of sinners, which includes all of us. Jesus existed as God before he became Mary's son in Bethlehem. But He left heaven because of his love for his people. He saw that the human race was messed up beyond self-repair. But he originally created us to be like Him! To reflect His image! Jesus came to pay the penalty for our sin, so that we could be restored to who we were designed to be - reflections of the likeness and image of God. Join us! We would love to tell you more. What do we believe about the Bible and doctrine?
- We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and God's perfect and sufficient message to us for our restoration, and reconciliation with God and each other. We believe that message can be summarized in the ancient creed of the church known as the Nicene Creed. We also believe that other church documents help us understand some of those details as well, such as the Westminster Confession of Faith. Although these documents are not Scripture, they are wonderful guides to understanding what is found in God's Word.
What do we believe about salvation?
- We believe along with Romans 10:9 that "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." This is a very simple and straightforward summary of the grace of God toward His people. A more thorough explanation can be found here.
